Planning & Zoning Commission

The Planning Division is responsible for assisting the City Council with planning for Piedmont's future development and reviewing proposed development for compliance with the City's adopted policies and ordinances.

Apply for Rezoning

To apply for a property rezoning, the Rezoning Application must be completed, along with the required material. 

Rezoning Procedure

  • Once the material is submitted to the City offices, City staff is required to send out public hearing notifications for properties within 300 feet from the property. This list is provided by the applicant. This must occur within 20 days of the public hearing at the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting.
  • A copy of the public hearing is publicized in the newspaper within 15 days of the meeting.
  • A public hearing is conducted at both the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting and also at the City Council meeting. 
  • If passed, the zoning change ordinance is publicized in the newspaper.
